Highlighting KOICA's Contribution for Enhancing Public Sector Capabilities: KBAA Knowledge Sharing Seminar Held at BARD

31st August, 2025, A Knowledge-Sharing Seminar of KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA), organized by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), with the assistance of the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), bringing together distinguished guests, scholars, health cadre officials, faculty members, and alumni to reflect on the transformative impact of KOICA programs in Bangladesh’s public sector.

The seminar opened with a warm welcome from Mr. Ranjan Kumar Guha, Director BARD, who underscored the significance of global partnerships in driving innovation within public service. Ms. Bae Jooyeon, Program Manager of KOICA Bangladesh, followed with remarks reaffirming KOICA’s commitment to strengthening Bangladesh’s institutions and advancing capacity-building initiatives. She was joined by colleagues Mr. Md. Fazle Rabby, Program Manager, and Ms. Lee Jaewon, Young Professional at KOICA, both of whom participated in the event.

50 BCS health cadres, along with BARD faculty members and participants from various institutions, participated in the seminar, bringing the total number of attendees to approximately 100. Their presence added depth and diversity to the discussions on sustainable development and governance.

A highlight of the program was the knowledge-sharing session led by Mr. Ershad Shaikh, Assistant Professor at Sadarpur Government College, and Mr. Md. Alimul Azim, Accounts Officer at the Statistics & Information Division. Both are KOICA scholars who pursued their Master’s degrees in Korea under KOICA’s prestigious scholarship program.

The seminar provided a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It concluded with a renewed pledge from both KOICA and BARD to continue strengthening collaboration and fostering capacity-building efforts aimed at improving public services across Bangladesh.
